Minimalist Eco-Inspired Design of a Country House Kitchen-Living Area

The project was awarded a special diploma in the nomination “Private Interior Design. Design of a country house up to 250 sq.m.” at the VI International Competition “Dom na Brestskoy Invites”.

We designed both the architectural concept and interior for a kitchen-living area located in a private residence in the Leningrad region.

The main idea behind the design is minimalism with eco-inspired elements. Natural materials, organic textures and a nature-based color palette formed the foundation of the space.

Floor finishes were strategically used to define functional zones within the open-plan layout.

One of the standout features of this project is the use of metal detailing — specifically copper sheets. Beyond their decorative appeal, these serve practical purposes. The copper backsplash in the kitchen protects against splashes and grease, while the copper cladding around the stovepipe guards against sparks from the fireplace. The copper-trimmed kitchen plinth also provides both protection and stylistic continuity.

Thanks to open layouts, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and the use of natural materials and textures, the kitchen-dining-living space feels both spacious and warm — a perfect blend of comfort and modern aesthetics.
